Self guided trip on the Greenways from Prague to Vienna

with the self guided package you will get all the material you need to complete the route from Prague to Vienna by yourself.

The Prague-Vienna Greenways is a 402-563km / 250-350mile network of mapped biking & hiking trails and country roads connecting these two majestic cities, so if you want to complete all the route it will take you 7 days based on a 50-80km/day, taking about 7-10 days to complete the trip. On the route there are also various train station where in case you can catch a train with your bikes, so this bike system offers to cyclists many different options for their own trips.

After your arrive in Vienna you can choose the best option for you to complete your holiday: You can spend dome days in Vienna and ask us to come to collect the bikes, or you can arrange by your own to come back by train with the bikes

Transportation by train and bus.
You can take a train with the bikes in Czech Republic and Austria. Bikes can be transported on trains and sometimes by bus. To check train/bus availability and prices on different connections visit the official web site of the Ministry of Transport www.jizdnirady.cz it also has an English version or ask us to find necessary train/bus connections and prices for you. There are different train connection around Czech Republic and direct train connections from Vienna to Prague (or from Prague to Vienna).

Transportation by car.

We can pick up bikes from Vienna(or deliver to Vienna) at the end of your trip, in this case if you planned to continue your holiday in Vienna or directly go to other places you don't have to worry about coming back to Prague.

Guided Bike Trips on the Greenways from Prague to Vienna

Praha Bike organize as well guided trip from Prague to Vienna following our favorites routes on the Greenways.

We start this trip; if you're alone and you wish to join this don't hesitate to contact us: we could have space for you in another group!

For Guided Trip our staff will lead the group and will provide assistance on the road, following our planned route (one tour guide and one support member with car). Each day our staff members will give you information about route, historical descriptions of the towns and a program of the day.

Our support member will take care about luggage, hotels check in, dinners and will be ready to help the group on the road for any problems.

Our team can make some modification of the route in case of necessity according with last moment inconvenience. Each modification will be communicated in advance.

In Prague there will be meeting with our stuff and all the participants of the bike trip. During the meeting we will describe you the programs of next days and you will test the bikes followed by our stuff and technicians who will help you to make the right adjustments on the bikes for your best comfort.

On Monday morning, the group will leave Prague and with a private car or minibus will reach the town of Cesky Krumlov, from where on Tuesday morning we will start our bike trip with destination Vienna. Monday will be dedicated for visit the charming town of Krumlov, our stuff can help you to discovery the best part of this place.

The bike adventure is starting from Tuesday morning, and after 6 biking ay the group will reach the Austrian capital, Vienna.

We will run this guided trip every Monday if we there is a confirmation of a minumum of 3 participants . If you're alone don't hesitate to apply: there should be someone else who wish to do it!!

For groups of 5+ participants starting dates and program can be changed according with your requests.

Bike details

We have quality Trekking 28" wheel bikes, specially built by Praha Bike company for long distance bike trips. Different sizes of bikes are available, so for your trip we will find together the right one for you for a better comfort on the way

We would like to return the bikes at destination. Where do you collect the bikes from?
- We collect the bikes usually at destination from the hotel where you will stay. or according different agreement.

I believe it is cheapest to book train back to Prague train on line. Do you know how we book on the bikes? Is this difficult? Is it likely to be full? Do the bikes go on in one piece i.e. not boxed up?
- You have to book ticket for yourself and bikes on line. Bikes go in one piece and you just need to put it at the luggage wagon, its easy.

Is it difficult to follow the route? what to do in case we will get lost?
- To follow the route is really easy. All the bike paths are well marked on the way and in the itinerary book you will find all the necessary information to follow the route. In case you get lost, no panic: using the maps and the itinerary instruction you can easy re find your way

How does it works the emergency 24hours service?
- You'll get a cell phone from us with a Czech sim card inside and some credit. It's a basic simple phone easy to use and it has recorded in its memory our numbers, then you can use it to call us in case of emergency, and as well we can contact back you.

Panniers
Are they provided? Some of us could bring our own if necessary.
- You don't need to bring your own panniers as we provide it. If you like you can bring and use your own.

We hope to enjoy our bike ride and to spend time on the way, looking at towns/villages/castles, etc. Is it possible to find accommodation on the way? With other words, is there accommodation approx. 30 to 40 k apart along the route?
- On the route there are many accommodation options, we will give you a list of accommodation you can find on the route, in the information list we will give you you'll find phone numbers, internet pages so if you decide to stop at that place for the night you can contact them on the way.

Is it possible to allocate us bikes with suspension seat posts or is it necessary for them to be fitted specially for us? If they are fitted for us what would the cost be?
- yes it's possible.

What should we do in case a bike gets broken?
-If you are doing a guided trip our tours leaders are carrying all the necessary equipment and tools to fix the bikes.
-In case you are doing a self guided trip you'll get a repair kit for emergency repair, then you can find many bike shops on the way where you can stop and ask to a mechanic to check your bike. If the damage is too serious and is impossible to fix the bike, you must call us and we will come to help you as soon as possible.

I'm doing a self guided trip and because the whether conditions I can't ride anymore, what's the best solution?
- Along the route we selected for the self guided trip the are train station where you can catch a train carrying also your bike. In this way you can cover the distance you supposed to do and you'll not miss to reach you daily destination.
