About Our Tours
Are advanced reservations required?
Yes, reservations are required for Private and Countryside tours. Our City Tours don't require a reservation although at peak season to guarantee a spot it is recommended.
How long are the tours?
Our Praha Bike City tours are 2 to 2.5 hours long. Our private tours are 3.5 to 4.5 hours long but can be adjusted to your specifications. Our Country tours are 6.5 to 8.5 hours long and also adjustable to your specifications although require a greater time in order to reach the final destination.
On tour, do we stop and receive info?
Yes we stop multiple times on our Praha Bike City Tours so that you are enriched with cultural, historical and architectural information regarding the specific stop. Our guides provide this information in an entertaining, sometimes funny and always interesting manner, using Prague's architecture as a lense of the city and country's spanning history.
Is there a water, beer, or bathroom break on the tours?
Located at the Praha Bike office is a bathroom for our customers. There is water, juice or iced-tea for sale. At the midpoint of the tour there is also a bathroom break in a scenic park. We don't recommend drinking alcoholic beverages and riding, so after the tour there is always time for a beer with your guide. If it's more than a beer you want, join the Prague Pub Crawl!
Is the tour cancelled in case of the rain?
Our tours run in the rain as well. We have ponchos available for everybody before the tour. In case of the big rain or storm we can cancel the tour and refund the money or change the start time/date. Those situations happened very rare.
Do we need to take money with us on tour?
There are not too many opportunities to spend money on the City Tours, although on the longer private and country tours, taking money is necessary for lunch or replenishing drinks.
What's the difficulty of the tours?
All Praha Bike City Tours are for all level of riders from advanced to beginner, and fun for the whole family. Private tours may be specified for higher or lower skill level riders, distance also plays a factor and all private tours are tailored for your every need.
Why does a half-day trip to Kralstejn cost more than a 24-hour rental?
The price doesn't only include the price of the bikes, the price includes maps as well as detailed directions how to get to Karlstejn through scenic natural areas along the Vltava and Berounka rivers, a repair kit in case anything unforeseen arises, as well as expert advice about riding in the Czech Republic. You cannot put a price on the experience you will have traversing such a beautiful country on bike, compared with sitting on a cramped bus. Aside from this, we are the cheapest bicycle tour/rental company in Prague. We operate on a very low profit margin because we are ourselves bicycle enthusiasts who strive to offer the best rates in the city for the interest of promoting practical and enjoyable transportation that doesn't cause pollution.

Are locks and helmets included?
Yes, locks and helmets are included free of charge. You may rent repair-kits, rear saddle bags and other biking accessories at more than affordable prices.
What is the make-up of your groups and how fast do they ride?
Our cyclists hail from all over the world! And, they are diverse in age, gender, occupation and cycling pace. Because of the diverse nature of our groups, we've found that keeping smaller groups with about 10 members to be an optimal number. Our experience has shown us that this size is large enough to spark great social interaction, yet small enough to get to know everyone and receive personal attention if needed. Praha Bike promotes a "stop and smell the roses" philosophy of bike touring. We believe that to truly enjoy your cycling experience, you need to set a pace that's comfortable for you, have fun, and take time to sightsee and enjoy the experience!
TESTIMONIALS
"Hi again!
The young swedish hockey-team that went biking
with you on a half day tour in april won the whole tournament!!!! They won
every game and the chech-team were amazed over their skills!! (Beware of
the swedes....)
We had a wonderful time in Prague, and your biking-tour was a great deal
of that experience! In some way I think the bike-trip helped them to win
the tournament. They had fun! Thank you once again! I know that many of us
adults will be back!
Best regards // Margareta Walleij, Swedish hockeymum. "

Dear prahabike fellows,
We've been recently in Praha and, thanks to you, we've been able to make a wonderful tour by bike around the city. Your friends in Catalunya,

Hey guys,
I just wanted to congratulate you on the great service you operate. My friend and I were taken on one of your tours by Steve and we were really impressed. He was a great tour guide as he could tell a great story, make us laugh and he knew his stuff. In contrast we went on a walking tour around the city and it was rubbish. The tour guide was even from Prague!
I will certainly recommend you to my family and friends and I will be sure to swing by for your other tours should I visit again. Please be kind enough to pass this praise onto Steve.
Keep up the good work.
Regards,Tim Ainley

General Biking Questions
We don't see many cyclists in Prague. Is biking safe?
Yes, biking is safe in Prague. Cyclists use a combination of bike-lanes, sidewalks, and streets making biking the most efficient way of travel. Follow our professional guides on tour or take a rental and allow us to send you in the right direction, following the safest routes in the city.
Bike messengers, rickshaws and Praha Bike tours and rentals are usually the only bikes you'll see in the center of prague. Locals take advantage of the efficient public transportation system while in the city center and enjoy cycling through parks and the countryside.
What if I haven't ridden a bike in 20 years?
At Praha Bike we pride ourselves in the nostalgia of getting back on a bike after a long time, remembering when we were a kid again, when we looked at the world with wide-eyes and life without training-wheels (stabilizers). We'll discover Prague with those same wide-eyes and we can always put the training-wheels back on. Or how about riding back seat on our tandem bike while one of our guides tours you through the city.
Am I ready for a bicycle tour?
After numerous years experience creating, participating in, and hosting bicycle events and tours, we know that most "active" people enjoy bicycle tours. If you are new to touring, or to cycling, we assure you that our tours are designed for every level of rider, from beginner to advanced. Our tours are designed to give a good balance between sightseeing and exercise. We provide ample time for stops along the way.
There are other ways to vacation. Why do a bike tour?
Bike touring allows you to experience travel on multiple levels not available to the auto traveler or even compared to a walking tour. Incorporating outdoor exercise into your day makes your senses come alive and makes every facet of your trip more enjoyable. On a bicycle, you are "human powering" your transportation - earning every wonderful view and dictating the pace of your experience so that you can "stop and smell the roses" whenever the inclination arises. Combine this with a sense of adventure that being on a bike provides as well as the feeling of accomplishment you get at the end of the tour, and it's no wonder that our guests keep coming back to us year after year.
Do you have baby seats or child attachments?
Yes we do. We offer baby seats and an attached baby carriage for very young children, but we also offer smaller kids' bikes, suitable for any age and size.
Do you have bike baskets?
Yes, we provide a rear or front basket for our bikes free of charge upon request. We also have rear panniers available for an additional nominal rental cost.
Do you have water bottle holders on the bikes?
Yes, all of our bikes are equipped with bottle holders which are designed to fit various sizes of bottles.
Do you sell water, beverages, or snacks at your bike rental facility?
Yes, we sell a variety of water in differing sizes, and in addition we also sell oxygenated water for an extra healthy energy boost. We also sell colas and juices.
Do you offer multi-lingual tours and private tours?
Yes, we have several multi-lingual tour guides and can arrange for tours in almost any language. We primarily provide tours in English, but we can accommodate any request. Please email us with a specific enquiry.
Choosing Outdoor Biking Clothing and Accessories
Regardless of whether it is undertaken for fun, sport or mere transportation, biking is an outdoor activity that is enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people worldwide on a daily basis. Providing an excellent opportunity to increase personal fitness whilst experiencing all the benefits of nature, biking is also seen as an environmentally friendly way to travel from A to B. As a sport or leisure activity, biking often proves to be extremely challenging and is usually undertaken on tracks, street circuits or in the great outdoors. Of course, one of the main advantages of biking is also one of its greatest disadvantages, as exposure to the elements can reward and punish in equal measure. Therefore, it is always essential that appropriate clothing is worn for any biking adventure.
Accessories are also important when biking, so items such as helmets and gloves must be chosen with considerable care. In respect to the helmet, which is obviously a key piece of equipment for cyclists, there are a number of different styles, shapes and sizes to consider. One of the major manufacturers of biking helmets is Bell, which produces a range of goods such as the Drop Full Face, Sweep and Volt Racing helmets. Each of these items is designed for a slightly different type of biking experience, which is important to consider when cycling to work each week day and mountain biking during the weekend. Gloves are also important accessories that can be worn in all weather conditions as they provide maximum grip of the handlebars in addition to basic protection from knocks, bumps and the harsh elements. Indeed, frozen fingertips are generally undesirable when biking on a cold winter morning.
In terms of clothing, sleeve and sleeveless jerseys are favourites among cyclists in just about all weather conditions. Nevertheless, in summer, it is usually the case that a loose-fitting jersey, such as one produced by Dakine, is worn on its own. In winter, however, it is customary to wear a tight-fitting jersey, which better insulates the body, as an undergarment (although base layers can also be employed). Indeed, waterproof jackets are typically worn over jerseys unless it is warm and sunny, not least because the act of cycling can cause the elements to feel much harsher than they are in reality. Likewise, cycling shorts can be worn in all conditions but in winter it is more common for bikers to wear full length trousers and, when it is especially cold, thermal base layers underneath.
Finally, appropriate footwear is another essential piece of kit for bikers that is often overlooked to an extent. Ultimately, it is necessary to purchase lightweight trainers or shoes that offer good grip but not too much in the way of tread or heel. On the other hand, flat shoes can be undesirable if mountain biking in the winter as there will be numerous occasions on which the rider must travel by foot. Merrell shoes are useful in just about all situations as they comprise versatile and hard wearing materials whilst featuring excellent grip and comfort.
